I realize most TYers are gaga over 4-strokes - that's cool.
As for me, I'm still a 2-stroke guy with a long-time, unrequited love affair with the SRX. Can anyone enlighten me as to what the differences are between a 2000 and a 2001?
Thanks

different graphics, richer jetting in the '01 because they had some warranty issues with the 2000 jetting (little lean on very cold days). Not much else, both great sleds.

also the 01 had silver trailing arms/radius rods, etc. the tunnel was also just aluminum colored, not painted blue like the 00'

For some reason I had it in my head last spring that I wanted an '01. Now I can't remember why? Getting old I guess...
If graphics, tunnel&trailing arm colors and jetting are the only diffs, then there's certainly no reason not to like the '00 just as much. That's a good thing.

the 2000 has the single control for hand/thumb warmers, the 01 had the seperate controls. Jets richer in 01. and the obvious colors

Are seperate controls important? I'm not trying to be a smartarshe, I just don't want to spend the next few years saying, "Man I wish I had held out for an '01." (or '02 for that matter)

Do the pre-'01s burn your hands and freeze your thumbs (or vice versa)? If not, I couldn't care less.

The 01 is the best year, the dcs on the 02 will make you parinoid much like egt's do to some guys. YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!

pre 01's have the old style, very hot grips, you used to be able to see your gloves smoking if damp...lol
the 01-02 dont seem to get as hot, but with seperate controls you could turn down the grips and leave the thumb hotter, the 2000 was either smoking hot thumb/grip or cold.
comes down to how much of a nit pick kinda person you are I guess. Some people cant live without the best of everything, some can, just decide where you stand. You cant really go wrong with any srx from 2000-02, they all run very well and performance is top of the line, great gas mpg, the biggest downfall would be the lack of suspension on a rough trail.

Seriously, why is the '01 better than the '00?

Great info - thank you. Guess I can live with twiddling the controls. I'm notorious for not wearing much in the way of gloves, maybe I'll just get better gloves. As for the rough suspension, I've been riding crappy suspensions for years; I'd rather have the handling. Thanks again.

The 01 is better than the 00 because you have seperate warmer controls, you don't have to rejet, and they usually go for around the same money used.

what jetting is in the 2000's and what are in the 2001's? How cold can you safely run the 2000's WOT? Im sure i wouldnt ride often between -5 and 0*F, thats the coldest but wouldnt pin it much then, but like 15* and warmer on a lake, i could pin it for amile or so.
