stolen sleds for re-sale
On the local news here a guy bought a sled from his neighbour. Paid him cash for it.Went to get sled insured...found out it was a stolen sled. Police now have it in compound and this buyer is out of his money. But his neighbour paid him back the cash . The seller apparently bought the sled from a stranger back in 2002. When he registered it,it did not come up as stolen at that point.He is now out of money,but him and his neighbour are still buddies.
The sled is going on auction by the police.Moral of the story....u must check the serial # and check it out with the police to see if it is stolen or not first...more likely when you buy it from a shady person...but who the heck
knows. A lot of people sell them right out of their driveway.which might be good because you know where they live.If you purchase it in a bar parking lot....your problem.
