i know a place has a brand new rx-1 mountain brand new and i'm thinking about buying it. problem is , i need to know if it is a good all around sled ?i do mostly trail riding in the midwest and sometimes jump off into the powder along the power lines. what would need to be done to this sled for a good all around sled? i've heard that the ski's would need to be widened and i would definitely be putting a hauck clutch kit on it. any help or advise would be appreciated.

Your gonna have a problem with the 2" track riding on alot of hard pack trails.
Could be some cooling problems and hyfax problems. Invest in a good set of ice scratchers and have extras with-in reach. Even a good idea to add extra boogies. This is not a trail machine, and yamaha will not help you with any of these problems if riden for long periods of time on trails.
If you don't want it .....let me know! :ORC

Have no complaints about the 2" track on trails (do have scratchers), still does 100mph. Even the hardest hard pack here though you don't really need scratchers.
Check out the four strokes forum (Mt. section), the '03 needs some work out of the box. Here is a link to a free mod that will help handling immensely.

Drill four holes, and it takes a lot of weight off the skis. Don't use with MPI transfer kit with this mod.
