Yesterday rode up to Lake St. Peter (just north of Bancroft). My friends and i sat on our sleds and watched about eight-ten Revs drag up and down the lake. There were 800's,600's and one 05 Mach Z. The "Z" was beating everything on the lake, so the next time they lined them up i pulled my 98 trail ported SRX 700 right up beside the mighty Z. One of guy's on a 600 got off his sled to drop his hands to start the race. As soon as the guy dropped his hands i jumped out to a sleds length lead. The "Z" pulled up a 1/2 sled length and there we staied down the rest of the lake. He couldn't believe what just happened. So we lined them up again, same thing! He wouldn"t race me any more after that. I pulled up to the "loyal" group ski-doos to gloat a bit and they all wanted to see under neath my hood. The Mach owner didn"t believe that it was stock displacement, he said that his was cluthed and dynoed at 172hp. I asured him that mine was a 696cc but it was trailported. Well the excuses started to fly then. I guess he didn't like to be beating by a old man of 48, some 70 pounds heavier and by a sled with 20 less horsepower .

Bender Orange primary spring (55-135), Bender 8mm shim, stock 8DN00 wieghts with 4.5 gram rivet inner & outter, 14.5mm rollers. In the secondary i'm running a "Roller Rooster" from Advant-Edge Motorsports, 47-43 helix, green sring at 70 twist. Stock gearing. One inch staggert lug track, with a set of small idlers at the bend of slide rails. Adjustable transfer rods set fourth line from the top. 144, 1.075 studs. Motor was ported by Jeff Muldrew from MULDREW ENGINE TECH (905-372-5179) near Cobourg Ont. V-force reeds, air box mod, with a tempa-flow. This motor has over 15 thousand kilos.on it. It was torn down at 12000, checked and rerung. It"s as fast to-day as it was six years ago when the work was done. This is a great all around set up (works great on the trails and on the lakes). Gets excellent gas and oil mileage. And embarrasses alot of larger displacement sleds. If anyone has a 98 or 99 srx i suggest the trail porting, it really wakes this motor up!

I have a relative with this machine and he has been complaining that out of the box obly got 112mph in 2000ft. A well tuned piped SX can get that.
He has now spent countless hours and dollars to get 122mph out of it.
A clutched SRX can get that speed and it is a 700.
