Was wondering what all you guys are running for jetting and clutcheing, i never ran benders only cpr pipes, and a guy wants me to set up his bendered viper, he put it all together with all the bender jetting and clutching and he is not happy, he got the head mod done by bender and all there clutching, has the rear exchanger also, any help is much appreciated, thanks lyle

I don't have the head mod so I don't know if this info will be any good but here's how I have mine setup:

I found Bender's clutch kit to be junk, I kept the secondary spring (white/blue I think) and the helix (02VTP). Running 40-10Y Heel clickers in the primary (not quite sure what I have them set at but I think I have 3.3g in the tip, 1.2g in the heel with the red spring).

Right now I'm running 165 mains and 60 pilots but testing in temps colder than -40* PTO EGT gets over 1350* so I will try a 170 main on that side or maybe even across the board. This jetting is too rich for warmer spring time temps so I installed a Vari-flow with excellent results, no need to rejet when it warms up outside.

Needle clip is in stock position, fuel screws are 1 3/4 turns out, stock gearing. The clutch engages at 4700 and peaks at 8800, sled pulls hard.

man those pipes run fat pilots huh.he has 55 pilots and 167.5 mains, i am going to try 165 mains in it. its been very warm this year, record warm january ever, average temp or -6c. unbelievable, i think the hole problem is its fat. my cpr ran 47.5 pilots and 160 mains, they say bender makes a little more power, but i sure liked my cpr pipes.

Someone should try an 01 SRX cdi with the benders. They don't spin over 8700 so that box would probably allow you to run the pilots alot leaner.

Running 50's for pilots, 1.75 fuel screw, stock clip position 1 under on the pto side,165 mains, 300 ft above sea level. Egt's will hit 1350 max under extreme cold. With the warm weather in southern ontario maxing out at 1240. I'm running a speedwerx head which helps move a little more coolant. The best investment he can make is in a Vari Flow. When it's very cold or on a long WOT pull turn it to the rich setting ( have mine mounted on the body above pull cord) Then when it warms up or your running trails, tight turns etc, just lean it out. The thing works awesome ! On my last trip got 240kms on 45L fuel. If you're going to run a vari flow or even pipes for that matter you really need to be running egt's as a back up. Hope this helps.

It runs great, love those srx pipes! Thanks again! Heres some pics. with the bender modified can.
I'm tellin ya someone should try running those benders with the srx box, bet they could run the motor alot leaner without a burndown.

Full Tilt

What egt are you running? I am running a race pack and was wondering what temps I should be pulling at max. I think I am being way conservative, but was told to keep the temps to 1200 for the bender pipes, which seemed really low to me. My SRX ran really well at about 1300. Mileage is really crappy too. Running 170 mains and 60 pilots.

i have a set of srx pipes for sale if anyone is interested. i don't have the silencer, so you don't have to pay for that and an aftermarket one. everything included except stock silencer, make me an offer, thanks!!!

i just installerd the attac on this thing, mid and top end jetting are perfect, but till fat with the 55 pilots, i thought that holtzman says a guy might have to richen pilots on attac, its all bender spec jetting,i tell ya the cpr pipes sure are crisp compare to the benders right now

I have about 3500 miles on a 2002 Viper with Bender triples, OPticool gasket, V-Force reeds/spacers, and rear heat exchanger. It's been very reliable, no engine issues. However, I have had two power valve cables break from rubbing, one of which rubbed a little hole in the pipe.

At Minnesota altitude, I've been running 165x3MJ, 55x3PJ, Air screw at 1 7/8, NO airbox mod, needle at position 3 (center clip w/ both shims below). For clutching, I've been using the standard Bender kit they recommend. Good performance. No doubt clutching could be improved, but I've been satisfied. That sled will spank an F7 pretty well.

The sled goes out to West Yellowstone for about 1000 miles per year and I use the standard recommendations for clutching and jetting from Mountain Performance. I'm not crazy about that clutching for deep snow performance - lugs a little at the low end, but does well on those 6000-8000 ft trails.

I had an ATTAC on it last year - very fat on the low end and I had problems with the air box filling with fuel. Not happy with the ATTAC and it's been pulled off and chalked up to experience.

In cold weather -20 to -30 on the rich setting on vari flow i'm seeing 1295-1325 on long pulls. Piston wash is good, plug colour is spot on.At 7200-7600 rpm its at about 1150. I have no worries running it at 1175-1225. 1350 i start to back off. With the weather we've been having -6 to -10 i have the vari flow 2 clicks off full rich that seems to be the sweet spot for the motor in most conditions and does not seem to affect egt temp much at all. Want to clean up that motor, buy a vari flow. Bender tells you to run 55 pilots. Thats way to fat. I think i'm runnins 50's , really helps clean up the bottom. Over 4000 miles no problems.

i ended up with 55 pilots, 1 7/8 turn. 167.5 mains and i had to drop needles 1/2 shim, needle clip in stock position but washers on top aand bottom. runs good now
