I believe a terrible thing has happened I just got bitten by the race bug! We just ran in our first drag races. We run 2 srx 700's a stock 98 and an 01 which is warmed over and ran in the improved class. Before we raced we did our homework lowered clutched and geared both sleds and they did very well.
But now I'm wondering about building a 600 class sled. How does a srx 600 run in drag racing compared to other sleds and how do they work with mods?

most tracks around here are 500' but what we just raced was only 350' the worked srx hit 80 mph at 350' and I thought that was good?

ya that's moving for that distance, jeez 350' is awfull short.
if the races you're running are even semi-organized tho, you'll get creamed by the rev600's in that distance, they're a very strong runner when in the hands of a racer. there's not alot you can do to fight back and still be within the rules, personally I wouldn't invest in making a stock class racer out of an SRX600. if you where going to make an improver out of it I think pro116 still has most of what you'd need floating around from when he parted out his.
in the IS class, I dunno whether it'd be competative or not, but the new rules favour the twins in the IS classes, so you might end up having to run prostock to be competative, at which point you're into ALOT of coin. at a minimum you'll need alot of porting, high RPM pipes, a race CDI box, a speed track, race skis, a quality gauge, and some big carbs. overall I'd be VERY surprised if you got it done for under $5k.
So I guess you have to ask yourself how much is it worth to you to be competative?
