I have a 98 SRX with about 2000 miles on it. Recently it started acting weird. After you come to a stop, the engine will not go above about 3500 RPM. I let it idle for about 30 seconds and it runs great. It almost acts like there is a rev limiter keeping it at 3500. Any ideas?
might want to try disconecting the T.O.R.S !!

Par, welcome to the site,
As stated above TORS.
If you have never bypassed the TORS before, there are two wires comming off the carbs, disconnect these two wires and plug them together on the harness side. this will bypass the TORS and let you know if that is your problem.
If you recently had your carbs off to clean them its very possible you have your throttle cabel to tight and its making the TORS kick in.
Keep in mind that if you bypass the TORS and you have a cabel issue you could end up not being abel to stop.
Trouble shoot it and get it hooked back up.

Just to add what Tod said, make sure are disconnecting the TORS and not the throttle position sensor (TPS) on the srx engine's. The TPS is a black plug on the far pto side of the carbs. Don't want to disconnect that. The wires he is talking about go to a sensor right under the idle adjustment screw above the center carb. That is what you want to bypass. Check throttle cable adjustment first, its probably just too tight.
