how often do you replace your drive belt? i've had the same belt on my vmax 600 for two or three years, but shows no visable signs of wear, just wondering if it is time to replace it.

What belt is it? 8dn, 8ch. My preference is a factory belt. As long as your belt isn't out of spec and the clutch is in allignment. And you are not over revving at WOT, you should be fine. The 8dn is ahard compound belt, 8ch soft. Some people run these belts 2- 3000 miles or more. If you have stock clutching, and your over revving, it's time to replace it. Excess heat will destroy them. There is nothing worse than grenadeing a belt at WOT. TINK

I've got one of those too... and two stock belts. The Dayco squeels and causes the sled to drift at an idle.

I have a 700 Venture 2-up. I have the original belt as a spare (5000km on it), the dayco belt with the cogs on the outside has now been on the sled for 14000km. That's right 14000 kms. Most of the time when I am stopped the belt squeals, and has done this ever since that belt was installed. With 14000kms (8500miles) on that belt it is still riding where it should be on the secondary. So, how long should a belt last? Who knows.
I can get over 3000 miles per belt on my Vmax-4's with the clutch offset/center to center set to specs.

Mine last for a long time (Stock belt ). One thing I like about Yamaha and their belts is you don't have to worry about them when you hit the trails......
