I have always been a Yamaha or Polaris man. But I have always had an open mind when it comes to what kind of sled to buy. We have all four brands in our group, but no 4- strokes, so I decided to stop all the 4- stroke sleds I could on the trails and see what they thought of them. Including gas stops, I talked with 7 RX-1 and 5 Warrior Owners. They all liked or loved them. All but one said he would never go back to a 2- stroke. Now This is the thing that took me by surprise, the drivers on other brands that were with them, the guys with F-7’s and Rev’s and a lot of Polaris guys all said they liked them too. I would say about twenty other guys, about four or five of them said there next sled would be a 4- stroke Yamaha. To me this is very impressive. So with a lot of research on the improvements on the 05 RX-1 I ordered one. What do all you guys think about this?. Do you think all of those people are lying to me? Did I go in the right direction?...

I sure hope we did the right thing, because I ordered an RS Rage, and my friend ordered an RS Venture. I rode a 03 Viper ER last winter and thought it was the best sled I've ever owned. From everything I've seen and read the Rage sounds even better. I wasn't going to trade this year but I had to find out if it's true.

enjoy it

Simply put enjoy it.

This/these posts are getting old. I expect you will get support here, because Y doesnt make 2 strokes anymore. However, I think if you asked every rider on the trail if they liked the machine they were riding that year they would say--THIS THING RULES.... Thats because nobody wants to say I wasted 10k, and the rest comes down to needs and what is important to them.

Enjoy it, and if you really need to be sold on your purchase you probably should have thought about it more.

I'm not afraid to say I wasted 10 G's. I had an 03 RX-1, it just wasn't the sled for me. The sled did not live up to my expectations, or what was promised by the magazines. I went back to a 2 stroke, and I think I will keep the Viper for quite a while. :yam:

I dont think it will be a mistake

If I had the money to throw around like that, Id be be riding a RS Vector this winter. However, seeing as how I dont, I'll most likely be riding my Phazer again this year.
4-strokes are the future, whether people want to accept it or not. Ski-Doo and Polaris can use all the fancy electronics they want, but a 2-stroke will always be "dirtier" than a 4-stroke.
I personally would rathar have a 4-stroke with carburators or even fuel-injection over a 2-stroke with fuel-injection and variable exhuast and all the fancy electronics that future 2-strokes are going to need to keep up with emissions regulations.
Its going to be VERY interesting in 10 or 15 years when we reach the point where 2-strokes are as clean-burning as they can possibly get and companies like Polaris and Doo end up scrambling to get some kind of engine that will comply with the emissions regulations. And there will be Yamaha, with their proven line on 4-stroke engines that already meet the emission regulations. Those will be good times, indeed.

BLUE BLOODED

Ok, 4 strokes will probably be the future some day, but in 10 or 15 years we will have a new list of concerns. Ski doo does make a 4 stroke, and they have the most powerful seadoo.

WAKE UP - Yamaha may do the most work, but everyone else will simply learn from there mistakes, and keep me on a 2 stroke for as long as possible. Face it - They all steal ideas from one another. Yhe rxton motor isnt a new motor --its a bike motor--That is why they needed to run that reduction box. HMMM maybe a gsxr sled
Trailing arms, and a rms is only one example of stealing ideas--(the one new suspension looks like edge to me)
Mercedes benz has invented very little, but perfected everyone elses designs over the years.
