I took both primary cluches off both sleds and I want to clean all the belt dust out of them. One is really bad, it has 4300 miles on it and I'm not sure if it has ever been done well. I would like to soak it in something, but don't want to hurt the shoes that slide on the spider. I've used brake cleaner on them when they were on the sled, but now I really want to clean the crap out of it. What about hot soapy water and the garden hose? Any advice on the proper way to do this is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Chad.
Trisodium phosphate. TSP. The stuff looks and smells harmless but it will take the paint of your wall, the skin off your hand, and the grease off of your clutch. Does not harm plastic but it will take the paint off of the dashboard of your truck if it is mixed too strong.

Use Acetone and paint brush. It wont kill you skin like TSP. It also dries quite rapidly and will not leave and residue behind...BBY

i like to uses a scotch pad and some brake kleen .. and also use it on your belt as when they are new they are cut with a knife that uses wax to cut the belt it is a good idea to get all that wax off the belt .
and then your good to go ... also i do it during the winter and summer as i race more then i trail ride its much easyer to keep clean

thanks guys
BBY- acetone eh? Hell I never thought of that. I sell the stuff to body shops. Guess I'll grab some at the store, put it in a solvent safe squirt bottle and go to it. I bought a parts brush tonight, I think that should work pretty well.
SrXxTrEeM- Good info on the drive belts, I didn't know that. Thanks.
