Track clips

On the right side of my track there are three track clips damaged (chunk of the metal missing leaving very sharp edges) then one clip fell off. Are these easy to replace? Besides that my track is in good condition.

I'm thinking that the damaged clips caused further problems,,,,digging into my hyfax and rail on that right side of the sled. There's red plastic (color of my hyfax) melted on to my clips. The hyfax which dealer indicated week prior didn't need to be replaced, broke in half and slight damaged occurred to the rail. Does it sound possible that the sharp metal on those three damaged clips could have caused this?

If the trails are lacking snow, I grab snow on sides of trail. I'm very careful about that. Make your women pay for the carbides and hyfax,,,,she'll do the same :-)

Guess I have to either pay the service dealer $90 to replace four track clips or buy the proper tool approx. $75 (with price of clips would cost the same as dealer, but would save money when others become damaged. Plus the guys might be impressed,,,, if I'm the only one in the group that has the clip tool - too funny!).

Right now the sled must be ready tomorrow for up-north weekend trip and those damaged clips must be removed regardless to prevent wear on hyfax/rail. I don't have time to purchase the tool, any suggestions on what to use to remove bad clips?

I'll add the new clips next week - Thanks!!!!

In a pinch, you can carefully pop the old ones off with a large screwdriver and use large channel lock pliers to put the new ones on.
Buy the tool! :2strokes:

If your lucky you might find someone that can lend you theres!..If you were closer id let you borrow one of ours...Easy process to do once you have the tool, and dont go cheap if you buy one buy the one that you have to ratchet that looks like a block. The other type is junk! Oh and do not use an impact on it!

Why not use an impact? That's all I use on mine and I have replace every clip on my two tracks at least once. Always replace 10 or so a year on both machines. Impact has worked great for me.

I have been told by many people not to use an impact after the fact that our older one for the bigger style clips, the threads got all fugged up and we kept lube on it too. The new one for the smaller clips has a ball bearing int he end of it and looks to be better quality. It may be alright for use with an impact just why risk it ya know
