I've got an 02 viper that darts alot. Where do you start? If ski pressure is the problem, which way do you move the spring?Any help would be great.

welcome to the site ramair-- if you look in the tech pages you'll find info on shimming your skis which greatly reduces darting, or try a search on darting or shimming skis... tons of info about it on this site!

We used to have a problem with darting also one of the things we did was check our ski alignment and come to find out my brothers sled was about an inch or so of center pointing out wich was a major cause for darting. Another thing that we did was switched to the new tripple point skags this is a great investment being that it solves the darting problem and that they run down about a third as fast as the normal skags. I would also reccomend shimming the skis as mentioned above.

Could'nt agree more with SpiderViper. We shimmed our skies and use the bergstrams triple carbide skags. This will be our 4th season and over 7,000 miles later with the same set of skags. Back then (02) they were $150 for the set (pricey) and probably more today but, when you break it down per year of use they become less and less.

An easy way to help is simply putting double carbides, It works very good!
I did it to the viper and the RX1. They may cost double the price but they also last twice as long.

the other thing if you are all riding sleds of the same ski stance don't follow directly behind the guy infront of you or you will follow in their same skeg tracks split their sled in half and put one of your skis in the middle of their track marks that way your skis don't follow the same grooves that their skegs made this works ok it doesn't elinate the darting but gets rid of most of it dual and tripple runners help but they have their draw backs on train tracks.have fixed a bunch of torn up front ends that have gotten jammed on the tracks while everybody with single runners had no problems this is wiyh custamer sleds and friends sleds the sudden stop is a killer
