so heres one for ya...i called a shop around laramie where im headed out to next week to c if they would do a quick tune on my sled (99srx 700 tripple)so that the variflow would be set for a usable range and the guy told me that they wouldnt touch my sled w/ the holtzman variflow on it... he told me to take it off and throw it in the trash. i asked him what it would cost to have it jetted for riding in wyoming (i live in nebraska) and he said about 4 hours labor.... the way i figure it is that right now if i go up and ride it the worst thats going to happen is that im going to foul a load of plugs right (wyoming, higher elevation) anyways... im not sure exactly how he put the words together but im pretty sure he used unreliable and sparatic in the same sentence while describing how bad the variflo is. he said that it might even run to lean.. so i thought before jumping to conclusions on what one possible nominder told me, id ask the good guys... let me know guys and thanks alot

I would find a different shop - a properly calibrated variflow will do to enhance your performance than anything they could do.

The reason the shop won't touch your sled with Tempa,Vari-flow or Attac, is that fine snow dust (powder) can get into them, and create ice which in turn creates a lean condition, and burn-down can soon follow. So liability is the real reason... If your jetting and clutching are stock, any Yamaha shop can tell you what adjustments you need to make for any elevation.

I used my Vari-flow on my SRX out in Snowy Range Wyoming last year and it worked just fine. I'm jetted for South Dakota, 1300 feet.

alright... i got the sled from a guy up in yankton sd and he was running it on the richest position, but when i got down here it was borderline fouling plugs so i leaned it out a bit... so that makes me think that if i go out their i wont be able to lean it enough. anyways i'll probably look for another shop and if i cant find one i'll probably just try it out. thanks guys

Thats why I hate dealing with the dealer. They like to make you feel like a idiot for asking questions. Not all dealers are this way I know but there sure seems to be alot around here like that.

all the dealer wants is your money , I have two holtzman attacc's on vipers , I have had the work great in WY all the way up to 10,000' & they have been used in UP of MI & southern MN ( if we would ever get some snow) , all my polaris buddies have them & love them for out west & flat land riding , give holtzman a call & ask, he seems to be a pretty smart guy , I don't think he would lead you down the wrong path
