What is the best helix on a 99 MM700 in the steep and deep? My sled has PI end-dumps, reeds, 151x2 track, 20/40 gearing, 8crs; 2.4 inner & empty outer, and a 53/43 w/green wrapped at 80, all at 8500 to 11500 feet. The current set-up rocks on the hard packed, but is slow to pull the rpms in the deep powder. I am thinking of a 48/42 or 46/42. Will that helix change work better in the deep stuff and will my primary set-up need changing? Thanks

53-43 is pretty steep for the mountains. I perfer straight helix's for general purpose mountain/boondocking riding, I've tried several multi's, but even after tuning the primary and sec spring to the helix. I always ended up going back to a straight helix, maybe it's what I'm used to!
For your elevation I would try a straight 43 or 41. Or if you want to try a multi-angle, go with one that has a fairly narrow spread, something in the 44-39 range.

Sounds like you need to go to the primary first. I had good luck with a yellow silver yellow and an alum rivet in the outer hole. The helix I have been using is a Hartman A-3 [46-42] green spring and adjust wrap for snow conditions. Between 60 and 80. Turns 9000 and settles in at 8700- 8800. I ride from 9k up to 14k.
