I bought a 93 Exciter II SX last year for my first snow machine. I like the sled but it doesn't do very well in the deep snow. I want to put a long track on it, and raise the bars some but I am having trouble finding parts and such to do it. I was thinking a 136 or 144, 2 inch paddle track. I would rather do the work myself than pay someone to do it. I am sure someone has done this before, how did it work for you? I am not sure if I would be better off just getting a different sled or not.

I don't do alot of deep powder riding but it's nice to be able to go and not be stuck watching my buddies have fun. Thanks for all the help.

I know a long track would be the best..My buddy has the exact machine he put a ripsaw 1 1/4 paddle on it and studded it totally different sled...That sled goes almost anywhere now..it was brutal in deep snow before...

I put a 2" rise on my bars, I just cut and welded an extra piece of pipe...

Had to ditch the trim pieces, but it was worth it I think... Seating is better when jumping, and in the powder, your hands will get cold though...

I am looking for a good price on a 1" - 1.1" - 121" track to replace the stock conveyor belt.

Check with hartman inc. I believe they still have long track kits for these sleds. I would go with a 136" 11/4 track which would be good on the trail and good in powder. Your sled has alot of potental and a newer 600 twin is a relativly easy install. Plastic skis would be a major improvement also look for a set from a viper!

it would be sweet, i put a viper skid in my srv with a 136" 1.25" full bar and some summit skis. totally different sled now and rocks in the powder now, obviously it's no mountain max but I love it.

Thanks for all the info guys. How big of a paddle could I put on? My friend has a 1.5 inch paddle off a 05 polaris, I was going to measure it and maybe try to put it on. Mars could you show me a pic of how you did your bars? That sounds like a pretty cheap fix.

The pipe on my sled is broke where the flange hooks to the Y pipe on the engine, should I try to get another stock one or an aftermarket pipe?
Thanks again for all the help.

the sx is not a mountian sled, I had mine up there it was OK but no fun, when you go to the bigger track you have to change the drive wheels cuz theres no room in that sled, also the tanks is too small for a full day, had to tow it back one day. You can buy that flange and weld it on

Yes the gas tank is small if you long track it make sure you add a gas rack! I wonder if it would be possible to install a gas tank from a 97 and up you would need the newer seat also!

the pipe breaking was a common problem for that sled. make sure that your flange is not cutting into your pipe. If i remembber right you should be able to goto about a 1.5 without changing your drivers.
