I just bought a 1993 Yamaha Phazer and I found that if I run it for any more than 20 minutes continuously the clutches get very hot and when I let off the gas the sled will keep going and I have to hold the break to keep it from moving. My idle speed is set right and my clutches look like they are aligned. This only happens when the clutches are hot because I can let them cool off for 5 or 10 minutes and start it up and it works fine until they get hot again. Anyone with any ideas? Also what type of clutches are on this sled.

My 90' did this, I took apart the secondary and changed the 3 plastic sliders and it worked good again.

clutch weight notched, clutch weight bushings bad or roller is bad. take it off and take it apart, it will probably be obvious.

Thanks for the comments guys. So you think the problem is caused by the primary not the secondary? What is the best way to take the clutch apart and will I need any specialized tools? Hopefully I can get the sled into our shop soon and take the clutches of and see if anything looks wrong. Any more thoughts would be greatly appreciated as I am fairly new to clutch work.
