was out on the lake this weekend finally got my 98 srx dialed in the way i wanted it and did some speed runs on GPS my best was 117.5 mph on ice with a half inch of snow. was pretty happy with that cause i was talking to a guy on a new apex and he only pulled 113 and that was on his speedo wich i'm sure is off a bit. what kind of top speeds are you guys getting on your 98 -99 srx's just would like something to compare my numbers to. oh and for all you yammy lovers i also put an 04 F7 to shame this weekend. hahaha go team blue!

ive seen 120 on my speedo multiple times on my 01 SRX!!!:2strokes:
my latest fun has been trying to hit 100 going up some 60-70 degree inclined hills....im walking near a buck climbing those!

over the weekend on lake gogibic I had my 98 SRX read 117 on the speedo dont think it was going that fast, I ran w/ a new apex last week I wasnt hooking up to well we were close up to 100 mph then he went about 6 or 7 sled lengthsahead of me, there fast sleds his speedo read 123 that was his fastest pull not radared. to make a long story short I blew my track @ 4000 miles.

ouch that sucks man try ebay for new/used tracks i saw some there for not too bad when i was looking before. some studded already. i havn't raced any apexes yet want to though i'd also like to try my luck against a new mach z but so far all i've met are some f7's and xcr800's had no problem with any on those though. hope you get your track all fixed up not too hard to change a few hours with a buddy and the right tools. good luck.

107 on gps is my best so far.

02 srx
stock track
144 studs
stock clutching

dialing in new clutch setup, waiting to see if I can improve upon the 107.

when your at 107 on gps whats your speedo reading?

those 107 speeds are about what i was getting when my sled was completely stock. but it doesn't take long for that sled to get even faster i found my best mod was the heel clicker kit made a huge difference in my opinion.

did the heelclicker take away from your top speed any?

no once you tune the heel clicker properly to get the right rpms i found my top speed didn't suffer at all. although i havn't run the sled with my stock clutch since i did most of my mods cause the clutch kit was the first thing i bought so who knows maybe i could get a better top speed with the stock clutching but i'm not about to put it all back now lol and i think 117.5 mph is pretty good top end anyways

oh i couldnt agree more that 117 is plenty fast enough and in my opinion its more fun hooking up and getting to the top speed faster then getting a really fast top speed. im quite fond of my arm ripping throttle response and the hang on for dear life hole shots against my friends....it feels good to take an RMK 800 mod sled that has 15 grand into it by a few sled lengths from the holeshot. ive got a pretty bitter friend thats about to go NOS because of me!:yam:

hahahaha that's hilarious ya 117 is wicked fast and to be able to get that ridiculous acceleration too says alot for the heel clicker kit i havn't tried the gray spring yet but they say it gets you to top speed even faster than the red one. interested to see if i can get the same top speed numbers with the gray one i can't even imagine an even faster acceleration. i do like the fast backshift with the red srping though and i don't think the gray spring will do that. maybe i'll try it one of these days. ya i love seeing guys on their new 15 thousand dollar 800 and 900 sleds get so pissed when i smoke them on my little old 98 700. i especially love the top end i have on that sled like when an xcr800 is ahead of me by like 100 yards and we're both to the pin and i catch him and then proceed to walk by him. ahahahahaha i love it. go yamaha!

Best top speeds:

Stock motor - 127.1 mph with 144 chisels.
Ported motor - 128.4 mph with 144 chisels

These are very far runs.......as far as you want to go :)

780 Big Bore - 128.4 mph in 2500 feet, slight wind, very good ice, trail studs. - out of gear!
