I replaced the single instrument cluster and installed the larger gauges in my 97' SX.
I replaced the wire harness that runs between the gauges, headlight and connects near the front support bracket in the belly pan. The instruments work as far as I can tell, The display lights work, high beam, etc. But when I apply the brake the tach drops to zero! Same thing happends when i switch from low to high beam. Any ideas what is causing this? I'm pretty sure the stator assy is the same for the 97' as the later models with large gauges and single headlights. Thanks for the help.

Make sure you dont have a short some place and you might want to check the CDI, cross reference the numbers in the parts finder and make sure they didnt change that box.
