I'm in the midst of the teardown from my weekend meltdown and found that the cylinder that has the melted piston is not salvageable so I'm at a crossroads here as to what to do.I've got a ported cylinder that was removed last year for a stock one and I'm contemplating putting it back on to save myself unnecessary down time and expence but I've no idea whos porting it is.There was 2 ported cylinders on this engine when I bought it but I didn't know it until I tore it down to replace a melted mag side piston in a previously new cylinder that got scratched.I replaced the 2 ported ones with standard ones to make all 3 stock but now to save myself $ I think I'll put it back on.This will make for 2 stock ones and 1 ported one so I'm not sure this will be the smartest thing to do but coin is a bit tight right now.

I've never "knowingly" run a ported engine so what is the rule of thumb for jetting the carbs anyway?Unless I can find someone who would like to trade for 2 ported cylinders for a 98/99 SRX 700 I'll be running one and as I stated I've no idea who did the work as they were on the engine when I bought it from a wrecked sled.

The second thing I would like some info on is honing nicasil cylinders;what should I use to take the glaze off and how should it be done properly?Take into consideration I've never done this myself but am not a total idiot when it comes to engine work as I have redone several 2 strokes before but all the cylinders I've had to replace were replated ones.I did try to find this info by searching for it but didn't find what I was looking for.Thanks. :rocks:
