my question deals with the 07 phazer, I think the mountain looks the best but 80 horse is not enough for my 250 pound svelt frame, what can a guy do cheeply to get more power out of one of these things, a turbo, in my mind costs to much, how about cams, or porting, higher compression, I would like to do this cheep, I don't have the money for an apex. are there cams for the bikes that might work, like the cams from the xr200, fit the 200x three wheeler, didnt make the 200x a power house, just gave it a little more. now these sleds are new and the aftermarket might come up with something, but what do you think can be done today, with out a turbo. I also understand what I am asking is a little premature, but I also believe alot of us are thinking of it already.

since it is 2 yzf250 motors together im guessing that cams and performance parts might fit, or maybe not because it is a twin cylinder, and ya u are really premature asking this

I'm sure YZF250 parts aren't going to work on this sled. I bet it is just "based" off that motor. Just like how the RX-1 was based off the R1. I'm pretty sure they don't use the same cams.
Cams, porting, and high compression heads will probably cost you about $1500 so why not just spend the extra on a turbo and have that much more HP.

Get the apex mountain. And then TURBO!!!!!!

This is already a premium pump gas motor, not sure how much will be gained by going higher on the compression and still remain trailable. The cams won't interchange between the YZ250F and this because of the monoblock design of this motor.

maybe rear mounted turbo??

Rear mount turbo should be able to be done. The supercharger will be tough. I didn't get a good look at the sled without any body work to really see if there is ample room.

so I guess it's either live with the 80 horse or buy a 120 or 150, what the hey, so now i'm up to 10 grand give or take a thousand, time to think some more, I have to fine a different way to mod what I have, man I wanted a new sled.

I have to wonder how expensive this motor will be to Turbo. It is already high compression, so either a head shim or low comp pistons would have to be used. EFI is more complicated to boost. If it can be recaibrated, then great. If not, then you may need a piggyback controller? additional fuel pump? supplementary injectors? Throw in some cam timing issues and this could be a major $$$ project for a motor that still might only put out as much as an Apex. Then, if you are into it that much, it may be smarter to change the bore and or stroke dimensions as well. That could be a really serious HP upgrade!
Very cool project. I just wish I had the cash to give it a try

fuel system really shouldn't be an issue if the pump can handle the extra pressure a Vortech FMU could be added to bump the fuel pressure in the rails up to compensate for the added air flow. Or someone may come out with a Plug'n'play computer box where you could install bigger injectors and modify the injector pulse width.
