Out of 4 major snowmobile brands, which sled has the fastest top speed bone stock from the factory?

Hate to say this but I believe the T-Cat would have held top overall speed for a stocker, at least up untill till the 4 strokes landed they definatly have some long legs.

SRX's where screamers as well, but overall top speed??

Anybody?

yup... @#%&%#@ cat was pretty fast.... :Moon:

the 2006 mach z will smoke the old 3 bangers Zs....from what i have seen from my riding buddies (two 2006 mach z and a 2003 mach z the 20006 puls it hard of the line and keeps on pulling, winning by about 6 sled lenghts in a long haul.

'BONE STOCK'

I to hate too say this ...but...T Cat, 2001/2002 SRX's close but no cigar & Even the VMAX4-800's close but not close enough.

......But saying that, ALL THE YAMI's made it BACK HOME on their own power. Not always the case for the Cats..........FAST NOW...But...NOT FAST FOR LONG ;):D

ya, as far as I know it's the Tcats, I think it was the 98 that was the faster year. The SRX was close in the 1/4, but not in 2000', the mach was alot closer in that distance.

damned hard to compete with an 81mm bore.

Yea but it's damn funny a 700 srx can be close to a 81mm bore!!! lol

This is tough, the 900 T Cat was faster than the 1000, out of the box, the last triple Mach Z in the old chassis would be in there that was the best Ski doo offered, an 800XCR had nothing out of the box, as for Team Blue box stock, although the 95 800 was good, I think the 00 SRX would get it across the lake. All these sleds could achieve the teens across the lake.

So I would say it was the old style T Cat, followed by the 97 Z or the SRX. I know everybody is immpressed by todays big twin arm stretching, ski lifting acceleration but they have nothing for a triple out the other end. And I keep hearing all these "stories" about todays Mach Z's running in the 120's, but have never seen it and have seen the best try and do it. I have several friends with them that are beating there heads against the wall trying to get there.

yamaha advertised the 2001 srx was the first to break a 10 second 1/4 mile at 9.998 seconds. but thats not top end...and it doesn't specify if it is on the snow or track...

The Thundercat always had the longest legs of any stock snowmobile. Sure, there were other machines out there that could stay with or beat in in short runs, but if you had the space, the Cat would always pull away. That's what 170+hp will get you. Today, the fastest out there is the Ski-Doo 1000. But, as with the T-Cat, there are some sleds out there that will beat it in shorter runs. Now, if you want to talk fasted modified machine, that's a no-brainer. Supercharged Yamaha Apex/RX-1 machines are breaking records all over the place!
