My sled ran like a top while in Gaylord, but had a bog when the snow really started to come down! Ideled perfect, started right up, plugs were brown, piston wash is perfect! When checking these things on the trail A group came by & stopped & the guy on a 97 500 twin said his does that some times! After the sled sat for 15 min ran like a top untill we got on trail 7 which is an old Rail road straight & out in the weather the bog returned! Carb icing?

try taping up your vents. i had that problem in my 95 vmax 600 but never my 97 sx. but taping the vents usually solved the problem in my 95. also check your air box make sure you are not sucking any snow in it. the snow melts then freezes again ice crystals can get in your carbs and cause you problems also.

those things would get ice, especially if you're following and getting snow dust, when this happens pop the airbox off, look at the bottom of the mouth of the carb, it will be packed with snow and ice, this is your problem, the ice covers the air jets and the sled will go pig rich, it will idle, but thats it. When you let it sit it melts off.
you need a prefilter on your intake filterin the dash. It really helps. Maxdlx

tape up the vents in the hood, my 97 700 does that but with tape it runs fine!

I was following & it was a snow storm! Scared the crap out of me! I mean when I hit the gas it goes! I hit the gas & it went but there was something missing! The farther I went the worse it got! I almost bought the prefilters from SLP but I will do it now for sure! THANKS EVERYONE!
