Are the o rings for the 1978 srx powerjet carbs a special type of o ring, or are they ones you can buy from a hardware store? a universal type??

lol, how true, every year they manage to change the part numbers on everything also,
What orings are you looking for? The ones on the bottom that slides into the bowl? Metric.....Love it. It seems to me that you could find them. Go to your friendly Yamaha dealer and see if thay can't match them. Good luck. Dean-o

thanks we found em...got em from the dealer...haha...our 1978 is driving us nuts...we've rebuilt the motor and carbs and the thing still dumps fuel and floods itself...we've gone over every possible thing...and cant find a cause...everything from pistons and rings to checking the jet sizes and replacing the o rings in the carbs...we are just getting sick of it now...if anyone has anything we could try it would be greatly appreciated!

needles and seats are good as well...forgot to mention that...and the plugs have been replaced about 4 times in the last day...haha

Had an 85 vmax one time that had a carb float that was sinking and flooding the engine. Something else for you to to check.
