I have a rear shock from a SX viper. I am trying to take it apart to replace the O-rings inside the end-cap. But I can't get the end cap out because there is a large "washer-like" thing in place, held in by a circlip (which is hard to get at). This "washer" sits in between the valving stack and the end cap.

How do I get this off? I can't get the end cap out through the other end (where the top shaft mounts to the skid), because the eyelet is way too tight, even with heat, it won't turn loose.

Please help. Thanks in advance.

I take the end cap off with a small screw driver. The end cap has a slight press fit. Pound the small flat scew driver between and pry off the cap. Once it starts it comes off really easy. Once the cap is off slide that up the shaft. Make sure before you pull the c-clip inside that you remove the gas out fo the body at the valve. Then you can push the piston down into the body to remove the c-clip with 2 small flat screw drivers. Once that is out carfully pull put the shock piston.....the fluid is behind that. ;)!

That "washer-like" thing I am talking about sits on the shaft itself. After I have taken the body out and all I have left is the shaft.

I'll figure something out. It's more like a disc that just sits there, held in by a very small circlip (the diameter of the shaft). It is on the shaft in between the valve stack and the end-cap.

so you are trying to replace the cap o-ring.....hmm I have never taken everything off the shaft to get the cap off the shaft. Can that be popped of with a scratch all or something sharp.....that a round retainer sits in a goove with a open spot on the retainer??

I figured it out MR sled. The "washer" pops out toward the eyelet (and the end-cap). The retaining clip is then exposed. It just pops out with a pick. The end-cap is then able to slide out of the shaft through the end where all of the valves are.
