Any help would be great. I have a 98 mountain srx with a 136x2. I ride powder and need more track.

Can I move the skid back and down to go out to a 141 or 144 without extensions and gain a better attack angle?

I am aware of most relocate kits, extensions etc, but If I go back approx 2-3 inches and down an inch would a longer track go? If I had a big wheel kit?
Never tried this so any info helps.
(ps im a broke sledder so please no big $ comments please, I am thinking that I can do this free or cheap)

Thanks for any and all info, I dont want to just start drilling madman style

if you go to 141 you need to take up 5 inches, relocating the skid 2.5 inches would work. To go 144 you need 8 inches taken up or move back 4. If it was me doing it I wou;d go 1/8 inch less makes it easier to get the skid back in. Maxdlx

If I dont find a cheap mountain viper this is what I would like to do.
just worried about binding suspension would like a 144 x 16, and put on 8 tooth drivers
and it would be nice to keep the 136 x 1-1/2 for Iowa riding
anybody have a template

just did this a few months back. 141 on a 136 mtnsrx. relocated suspension. made some drop brackets out of aluminum, moved the w arm on the rails, homemade transfer enhancement kit to eliminate transfer rods, works very well! just take your time and be accurate.
