I just installed new slides on my Viper. After my first trip out all I could smell was burning plastic and the slides were really hot. Mind you it is very ice here on the trails these days, so they are not getting much lubrication. After the second time out I noticed a big chunk of plastic peeling off the slides and a lot of plastic on the metal track guides. Could I possibly have my track too tight? Any help??

yes on a pro action skid you can't run fast and long on hard pack or ice
new slides will burn to a certain point then stop,,thats what your seeing
on your clips..

You need to loosen up your track and stay off the ice,,and you'll be fine

Are they wearing all along or just at the bend on the rails? If they are wearing at the bends you could try playing with the limiter strap and pretension on the shocks. I had them wearing at the bend on my 01 MM700 and ended up going with the extra wheel kit and installed right at the bend of the rail. It worked well for me when riding in marginal snow conditions.

Run your track just tight enough so that it doesn't ratchet. Proactions are NOTORIOUS for wearing the slides like crazy almost to the wear line, then stopping. Also, getting them very hot when they are new then cooling them right away in some powder makes them last MUCH longer.

I am on my third set this year. I installed Ski- doo wheels on the inside (little more diameter to them). I also move the wheels (inside the rails) 1" forward. I think this should help.

I got lots of snow where I ride, just I find they were out to qwik
