In Irons there was a snowmobiler riding alone at night in an unfamilier area and came up to a corner too quick along the railroad grade and went over a berm and into a tree around 11 p.m. The snowmobiler was knocked unconscious for a few minutes came to but was not sure exactly were he was so he waited until someone came by. Unfortunately that was not until around 8 am the following morning. The groomer noticed the wrecked sled and called a friend of his to see what happened. The rider from st clair shores had dis-located his shoulder and had a possible broken wrist along with head banged up also. His sled flew thru the air and hit a tree and was tore up as bad as he was. Please don't ride alone and always try to let others know what trail you are riding. This man could have froze to death because no one knew he was out there. I have ran into people riding alone and asked if he or she wanted to ride with us awhile just for there safety. You never know what can happen out on the trail. People hit deer miss turns and sometimes a big dip in a straight away surprises you and sends you airborne. And remember IF YOU CAN"T STAY ON YOUR SIDE OF THE TRAIL YOU ARE GOING TO FAST ESPECIALLY ON THE CORNERS.

and NEVER trust your cellphone to help you out, alot of trails run through "no mans land" . I've have several people tell me "I got my Cell with, I'll be fine"

Well, as a newbee to sleding, thank you so much for that info. I hope that person is doing ok.
I guess sledding is like hunting. Never go out alone.

Thanks

Dario

I always key a small LED light on my keychain. The light is visible for almost a mile and it is cheap. I also keeep one for my hat and clip it on the bill in case I have to work on machine at night. If you get in trouble you can flash the at night. I second the cell phone. I always keep a motorola radio on me also.
