Could someone give me any info on this product, pros/cons any benifits for a 98 srx700?? Thanks in advance, Tony

You will undoubtedly get mixed opinions on this. Some people think it helped them a lot, others say it lost performance. We installed one on a 98 srx and 660' times didn't drop at all, but top speed numbers for 2000' did drop about 1-2 mile per hour. The theory behind the top speed loss is that at high speed, a relative negative pressure is created behind everything with a planar surface negative from horizontal. (think of the snow collecting on your back when you ride in powdery conditions). This virtual negative pressure will actually pull some air density from the air box instead of pushing cold air in, resulting in a noticeable power loss. Of course, this is very hard to test without a dyno in a wind tunnel, but it could be done.
The SRX has an extremely well engineered powerplant that's pretty darn powerful and efficient right from the factory. I know others may have different experiences, but I've yet to see this mod work well on an SRX. Inevitably, the sled becomes more finicky, more difficult to jet properly, and more sensative to temperature changes. Unless it's a race sled I would stear clear.
Thanks Yamahaulic22 for the info. I purchased a 98 that has this kit I noticed when I removed the air box to clean my carbs there was a piece of card board duct taped over the hole that were drilled in the box & the hole in the hood. I left this the way it was because wasnt sure if taking this duct tape off may lean out the mixture? I would think you would have to richen up the main jets when this kit was installed I dont know what this kit consists of ? I put over 1500 miles on this machine and never had a problem with this unit It runs real good. I guss I will try removing the cardboard & tape to see if there is a differance & check the plugs for a lean cond. what do you think? Thanks Again, Tony
