Has anyone installed Mountain Performance's tunnel extension ( I'm interested in their new, shorter length 136" extension ), and if you did, do you have a picture of it? Has anyone used the Mountain Max 141" tunnel extension and been able to either 1. shorten it or 2. slide it forward to shorten it? I want a maximum of 7 to 9 inches behind the seat for a 121 to 136" Viper M10 conversion.

i've got a mtperf extension on my viper. just installed this year. i didn't install it though, had a local sled repair shop install it. my extension was the one that is for both 136 and 144. i only have 135 miles on the kit(bad luck this season) but from those few miles i love it. here are some pics. hope this helps

Nice looking job!. They now make a shorter one; someone from MountainPerformance said it only gives you about 4" behind the seat. I just extended my Zx 800 and I have about 7 1/2" behind the seat ( which isn't much ), so I'm wondering if the 4 inches is correct. Anyone else. Thanks

Here's mine, not sure if the pic will work, but it's a 141 ext on a 2000 sxr 700

Appreciate the pictures, but Mountain Performance now makes a shorter extension, one specifically for a 136" conversion, not a kinda do-all 136 to 144 extension. I would really like to see pictures of their new extension ( it may even be new this year ). One of my concerns is that I need to fit it into a 10' Triton enclosed trailer. The other is that I just don't need the added length of using the 141 ( or 144 ) extension.

yeah, i wish mine wasn't the 136+144 option. i don't need the added length of the extension for 144. looks kinda goofy being too long, oh well. still looks pretty good. mine fits on a 10ft open 2 place. don't know about enclosed though

measured mine today. the tunnel extension from the back of the seat to the end of the extension is 9" from the back of the seat to the end of the bumper is 14"

why do you want to go shorter? the shorter the extension the more likely the snow will be ejected out of the rear of the sled instead of up and over the exchangers. the MPI 136" kit is shorter than the 141-144 kit. i have installed 3 of these 141-144 on sleds, while using 136" rails. it is nice to have the longer tunnel for a rack and a "snowcatcher" if you will to help with cooling issues plagued by the vipers. i actually installed a tunnel roof cooler (U-shaped from mpi). with the 136 rails and the 141-144 tunnel the ejected track snow lands exactly on the roof cooler offering far superior cooling to any added on oem style cooler. just a thought and my .02 ski

the 02s and 03s don't have the rear cooler so why would it make a difference if the snow is ejected out the back? what is everyone using for rear heatexchangers for guys w/136 vipers?

I just 136'ed my 01 800X with this extension. It's 8" behind the seat. It's short, it's neat, it'll take a small rack, it's all I need. Not saying the 141 / 144 extension is wrong, but I don't like it and if I have to I'll make one. Excuse the color, I had to manipulate it to take the flash glare off the aluminum.

Appreciate the measurement. I'm going to check the tunnel extension on a buddy's Mountain Max. Yours may be shorter. So that's the 144 extension???, doubling as a 136 also. Thanks.

i believe so. i think it is for both 136 and 144 kits. same tunnel extension for both. if you look at it from a side pic you can tell it is def. longer than it needs to be for 136. heres a pic(sorry, only good side pic i have)

through mpi, 141 144 are the same, and 136 is on its own. ski

You wouldn't have a picture of the 136 extension, would you? I asked the fellow at Mountain Performance, but he didn't have one.

I like the length of the Maxx extension and it's great that it accepts the Viper rear cooler ( as I already have one in mine ), but I just don't like the boxy look of extension. There's a lot of aluminum showing under the plastic rear hose covers and I prefer the tapered tunnel look, even though it means I can't run the Viper rear cooler. Just a personal preference, as I'm sure a lot of fellows are ok with it.
