i got the saint ignace paper from feb. 9th and it looks like yamaha won the I-500 this year is it true or did i miss a thread on this. been busy over here guys, sorry.. if yamaha won was it with the new apex? what are all the places and results? thanks, tom

Yes it was the APEX RTX that Corey runs. It's all in Snow Week magazine.
The Yamaha sleds dominated. A few Yamahas were the fastest sleds on the track when it was smooth with average lap speeds in the upper 80's. A couple Yamahas (including the one Corey Davidson piloted) were the fastest sleds when it got rough with average speeds in the upper 60's. Only 1 Arctic Cat, and 1 Skidoo were even in the running by midrace. Polaris really didn't show very well, with most of the Fusion finding trouble fairly early.
Corey is very impressive, the rougher the track got the greater the separation between him and all of the others. Some of this was sled setup, but a lot of it was the driver. He keeps his body weight very centrallized through all of the bumps with an economy of effort. It was just incredible to watch him glide around the corners, while the others got beat more and more the worse the track got. One RX1 was incredibly fast early, but I think they tuned it a little to close as he experienced engine trouble midrace.

thats good to know. i think it has been 3 decades since they won that race. I only hope people dont start complaning about the 1000cc 4 stroke thing dominating that race. but i think all the others makes could do the same thing but have alot of catching up to yamaha 4 stroke technology. looks like yamaha is on the path to domination in everything for many years to come. every dog has its day!!

You can bet the others will start to whine if Yamaha starts winning on a regular basis.
Can you imagine what happens if Yamaha starts being competitive in sno-x with the Phazer?
I could easily see them having a seperate 4-stroke class. You know what they say, "the squeaky wheel gets the grease."
