Whats the best way to keep from burning slides?

2001 SRX... seems to be beeing pretty hard on slides, goes throught them pretty quick. I know that the srx's are known for this but i was wondering if there was anything i could do to make them last a little longer

back off the center preload, loosen track, drill a buch of snow holes in the slides.

when they are new find a lake or field with low snow conditions run em hard get em hot, then put them into some snow and let them cool. i think of it as tempering them kinda like what is done to metal.

stay in the snow,, run you track loose and don't do any long high speed
pulls on ice or marginal snow.....
