SJ it is a simple job really. I did mine twice this year.
Romove the recoil, there is a nut that needs to be removed on the back side. Nothing will fly apart when removing the nut. You will then see a white plastic dog and a metal one. These will need to be removed along with a little black coile spring...remember how these go back in. The plactis wheel that the rope winds on will not come out...becareful not to pull the recoil spring when removing this plastic wheel. Wind the rope counter clockwise as many turns will fit on the wheel. Re-install the wheel making sure the recoil spring is in the groove on the plactis wheel. There is a notch on the top of the wheel which you will ned to clp the extra rope in that groove. You will need to turn the wheel 4.5 turns counter clockwise to load the spring at that point you can route the rope throuth the whole of the recoil housing. Reinstall on the machine, route the rope properly and once it is all installed you can cut the extra rope. Hard to explain but an eazy job.

thanks...like I told TOD....sounds like rebuilding a watch...little freakin' springs and all....lol
tear into it SJ, you will see that it is not that bad. And you can always call back and I will go through it with you.
You can leave most of it togeather as you rewind the rope and get it back on the spring.

?????......I am a little confused here, why on earth would you take anything apart on the recoil to simply replace a broken rope???
This is a 30 second repair once the recoil is off the sled, simply rotate the inner plastic rope guidecounter clockwise 4-5 times like said before till the hole lines up with the hole in recoil housing and remove the knot and old rope/discard, rethread the new rope in, tie a knot and check rewind on the spring till it pulls back the rope correctly, reinstall on sled. I use a pair of welding clamps to LIGHTLY clamp the plastic wheel in the center recessed area and keep it from spinning back while tieing the knot.

Now You tell me!!!!!!!lol.
You mean I did it the long way twice this year.
Thanks MrViper...lol.
I cant picture in my head where you would line her up to take the rope out.
I went by the manual and followed those instructions.
Should of known there is always a short cut.
Next time I break the rope I will look at it closer...
