Very Little Help! Talked to both Hartman and Mountain Performance about a tunnel extension for an 02 Viper. Hear all the rave on here about how good those fellows are. Hartman barely had time to talk to me; wouldn't take the time to answer my questions. Tried to find out from Mountain Performance how long their "shorter" 136 extension is, and to get a picture of it. Couldn't tell me how long the extension would be behind the seat, didn't have either picture, and just too much trouble to try and help me. Called yesterday, wasn't even anyone there to talk to. Unreal!!

you're calling at peak times for their seasons. not sticking up for them but, you have to expect it. there are posts on here with pics and you can ask guys to take more pics and give you measurements installed for the short and long extensions. ski

I called a few times at both places during November and they were not very helpful and felt the same way and had the exact same thing happen. Was not too impressed to say the least. But in the end, found out some of what I wanted to know.
Maybe they just wanted my phone bill to be not very expensive....

i went with the maxx performance extension which works with the srx/viper rear cooler. it adds 7.5" to the tunnel.

I have a Hartman extension on my sled. I did the work in the off-season, talked to Tom and could barely get him off the phone. Real nice guy I thought. I will post pics of the 136 extension on my RX-1. I suspect that they look somewhat similar and I believe it sticks out about 8"

ive been biting my tongue about HARTMAN for about a year now, but 1badz opened pandoras box (thanks).
last season i was installing a tempaflow on my piped viper and there was a lot of talk on TY as to where to put the TF; in airbox, under shelf, above shelf, handlebars, etc. so i called hartman to ask some questions about the install (there are issues with the heat generated from the pipes that i was concerned about). after about 5-10 mins, give him the benefit of the doubt, call it 10 mins, his panties got all bunched up and he told me "that if he had to spend this much time with all his customers he would never make any money" (and that is a direct quote) and he blew me off. at that point you can guess where i wanted to put the TF. if he would have been standing in front of me this would have ended very differently. you just dont (shouldnt) treat people like that, especially when they just gave you money=customer.
as others have stated he has quality products (not bashing that at all, just his interpersonal skills). he is dealing with a niche market and service is where its at!
ive been in sales my whole life, even owned a bar for years dealing with drunken a$$holes, and i NEVER said anything close to that to a CUSTOMER. let me say that i dont think that the customer is always right by any means but the customer is ALWAYS paying the bills and you need hundreds of satified customers to make up the damage of one disgruntled customer because the unhappy one is usually the one that talks about mishaps more often. even if he was having a bad day, dog died or whatever, absolutely no excuse.
needless to say i wouldnt buy from him if he gave his quality product away.
im done. wow, did that feel good. thanks.
as far as your tunnel extension, if you have a buddy that works in a shop see if he can cut and bend some alum for you. go to metal scrape yard and pick up a piece of alum for $20-30 (i found a piece of scrape polished diamond plate, looks mint, i think anyways), make a prototype of the bends and buy some beers.
good luck.
