Anyone with a Viper have this issue? If the sled sits a little while and is restarted hot it won't start unless I crack the throttle. I had to adjust my mixture screws on the bottom of the carbs to fix a high idle/lag problem and that worked, I turned each screw out 1/4 turn from stock. The idle will now lag for about 5 seconds at 3000 and then come down to 1800. This is ok to me, I just hate holding the gas open to start it. Thanks.

its not just vipers but srx as well, very common due to the flatslide carb design, its very simple once you learn it, just crack it with your right hand and pull it once with your left, will start right up.

it starts easyer if you run it with the water-heat knob OFF, but this requires hotter weather of course.. I guess it has to do with the high temp it gets in the carbs when you stop..

Mine are exactly the same as yours, only i have lower idle so it falls directly down to idle when i let go of the throttle..

Like what was said above, very consistant with Yamaha. I have to start my 91' Phazer with a little bit of extra throttle once warm as well. It's not just the high end sleds... even the old irons require the same attention. It's never let me down though!

The thing runs mint , if that is the only issue I can live with it. It always starts and I have my carb heaters off. Thanks for all the input.

Hmmm...i never have that problem,,i don't have a triple but my twins
always start warm,,, no need to crack the throttle...

yep, it's just the nature of the beast, fuel has a lot to do with it. High alcohol content fuel aggravates the situation, you wouldn't think a snowmobile heat soaks, but it does. If you start it hot, you crack the throttle, if you leave it sit for 30min. just pull the rope, the funny thing is my 500 never did it, and yes if you don't have the carb heater on it doesn't do it that bad.

My 04 ViperS does the same thing! I just get use to it and live with it! As long as it runs fine is all I care, it has done it for 7000 miles and haven't had a problem. I beleive all flat slides seem to be like this!

Add my srx to the list, but i think its pretty much all the sleds out there. I have always given just a touch of throttle with every sled ive owned. Polaris, Arctic cat and now Yammy.

Mine does the same thing once warm you have to blip the throttle also my roomates he has to do the same thing and his SRX has the 02 viper motor ;)!

...or crack it with your left hand and pull with your right.
