can't read the pic, the fact thimb warmer plugged in to a small plug, and the hot grips plug into a black and a yell red I think, they were bullet connectors.........

OK the thumb warmer has a white and a black in a plug, which plugs into a plug with a yell/red and a black. The hot grips are a yell/red bullet connector and a black bullet. You plug the grips together with one of their wires and then plug the other two grip wires into the plugs in the harness...............

Do you mean like this.....

yep, the grips have 2 wires each, plug the grips together with 2 of them and the other 2 wires plug to the sled harness, just make a loop out of them.

OK !

But...

Why connect them in Series coupling, instead of Parallel coupling ?

And why does not the thumb warmer also be in the same Series coupling ?

( I'm not sure if I used the right words in english, but I hope you understand me ! )

It's funny, because in my 84-89 Clymers manual, they show them wired both ways. Most of the schematics show series, but the older Phazers used parallel. But the previous answers are correct, make a loop out of them. The thumb warmer can be wired by itself (parallel).

Not sure why, but that is the way Yamaha designed it. It may work better with a resistor that way and save on connectors.

The way I told you is correct, the older sleds that came with factory hot grips were wired differently, old sleds with aftermarket grips were wired as this one, the looping of the system is done in the harness on later sleds, this particular sled has the seperate wires for the thumb warmer but they are hooked together in the harness, Lasse just hook it up as we spoke and it will work.

If you look at later sleds with seperate controls for the thumb and the grips, they have a seperate circuit for each.

THANX everyone for your answers !

Now I have it up running, and the wifes fingers are warm......

Maybee she can use them for something else now...... ;)! ;)!
