A group of friends and myself have been running slp pipes on our 700 sx's and sxr's for a few years now. We've tuning the sleds to run at 9100rpm's and they perform fairly well. What I'm wondering is if anybody else runs them and, if so, what rpm range. I'm thinking of trying to run them at 8500rpm's since almost every other sled with pipes, including srx's, runs best at this rpm. Am I wasting my time or am I headed in the right direction?

Also to be noted, the sled is ported, the head is conservatively cut, reed spacers were installed along with carbon tech reeds, and viper shocks with the proper long travel components have replaced the original equipment.

I think they run the best at 8700 rpm but with the porting they to rev a bit. I would load them some down low to get them to heat in quicker and see how they like it.

Thanks for the help. The main reason I asked was because I went from running about 122 mph on the speedo to now not being able to get over 115. I went through everything right down to worn bushings but couldn't get the speed back so now I'm down to trying stuff I hadn't before.

I'll try adding more weight to the clutch. Right now I have '98 srx weights (8dn) with the heaviest rivet yamaha makes in the tip. I cann't remember the exact weight in grams. My secondary clutch has a 54/44 helix now and I've tried alot of other ramps and steeper ones really kill the motor. I just wish there was some snow to test stuff.
