I just bought a 1.75 * 136 track on Ebay, and got 121-136 extentions. I now realize that my stock 9 tooth will not allow enough clearance. So I found a good used set of 8 tooth. From heresay it will fit, has anyone done this? My gearing should about 10% lower with the smaller driver which I assume will work well leaving stock gears, now that I will be pushing more snow.

I think BETHEVIPER and others have run the 1-3/4 with 9 tooth driver
OZ
yes but...
You'll have plenty of room with those 8T drivers, ...your local dealer should be able to press on those 8T driver (10 ton press) for around $20-$30. If you have stock gearing, the smaller drivers will give you a nice holeshot.

you can run that track with the stock 9 tooth drivers , 1.50-1.75 fit in a viper or srx with 9 tooth drivers, no problems. You do have to remove the front heat exchanger protectors and tunnel wear strips. If you go to 8 tooth drivers your stock 22/38 gearing which is 1.73, will now become a 1.94, thats alot steeper and yes, it will have more low speed pick up, but it will greatly take away from the topend, the track already will sap away some topend, along with the gearing your gonna really notice it. Your speedo will also need some work as its going to read alot faster now with 8 tooth drivers, your most likely going to have to grind off 2 teeth on the reluctor wheel on the driveshaft in order to get back close to the correct speedo calibration. Its also harder to turn the track with 8 tooth drivers then 9 tooth drivers, meaning it takes more power to turn the track the same mph as it would be less with larger drivers. In my opinion, I would stick with the 9 tooth drivers unless you need studs as well with that big of a lug track. the stock gearing is perfect for a bigger track unless you weigh over 190-200lbs.

I looked at a Viper today w/ a 1.5". I didnt realize the aluminum and plastic tunnel protectors could be removed. with them off, I will have enough room. Thanks for the info fellow Vipers.
