i love electric start, however, it was never an option on the '97 vmax 700. While doing research, on an unrelated matter, I found a kit (yamaha part number 8ds-w8180-00-kt) for the '98 vmax. Alot of people have told me that the sleds are identical except for some engine upgrades. is this true? does any one know if the kit will "bolt on" to the '97? My key actually has a start position. thanks.

they are the same, I don't know of any engine upgrades for any of the non power valve 700s, just some up grades to the clutching. wait until you buy a battery for that thing.

they made changes to the bearings used in the motor, i know, i just changed a crank bearing. thanks maybe i'll upgrade and stop pull'n!
