drive shaft twist

Just picked up an 2000 srx700 two weeks ago. Was going to install a reverse kit today only to find that the end of drive shaft is twisted. The drive sleeve for reverse kit will not go on all the way, splines bent. Wow these sleds have torc! Is this common? Anyone know where I can get a shaft? I just found this site about a week ago. What a great site. Loads of good information and good people here. Yamaha's Rule!
 

I have seen it before after grass racing the early srx's,the 2000 and earlier shafts were softer then the new updated 2001 and 2002 srx ones, replace it with a 2001/02 shaft and it wont twist anymore.
