Still lookin' for a picture of a short tunnel extension for an 02 Viper. Want to make it 136". Not interested in the 141/144 extensions used for 136 conversions or the Maximum Performance extension. Mountain Performance advertises a "new, shorter" extension for the 136 conversion. I want about 7 1/2" to 8" behind the seat max. ( plus bumper ) Any pictures???????
I'm interested in the same thing... looking to extend mine to a 136" for next year.

I would think you could get a machine shop to bend you one. I am in process of extending my Viper also, and like you, think the available ones stick out way too far, almost not necessary if you would bend your flap back. Although it would be nice to have a spot for a small gas jug.

I like the length of that one, but I'm not crazy about the aluminum hanging down below the rear plastic hose covers. I know its necessary to run the Viper cooler, but I'll sell my cooler and put a Mountain Max one back there. I like the tapered look like the factory extensions are.
Are you sure the metal hangs below the hose covers? It looks like a pretty clean setup to me.

heres some pics of my viper with a polaris 144" extension( hey it was free), i simply cut off the little pieces that extend out to hold the polaris exchanger and put on the stock viper flap piece. I dont think it looks long. i am yet to get the hoses and the rear covers off the mountain max like i want which should clean up the rear really nicely.

You're right if that truely is a M.P. tunnel. I thought a couple of the pics on their website showed the tunnel flush with the covers, but it must have been the angle. Either way, I don't think it would take much to clean that up. Just a little trimmin' is all...

That looks pretty good. Any close up pictures? How much extension behind the seat? What model was the extension from?? Thanks

that blue one with the extra material is definately not an mpi product. i have had two and installed a few more and they dont look like that at all. it is a nice clean covered job on the ends and sides. ski

1badz,
The picture you have posted is of my sled and I think that you could have the extension sides sheared or cut away to relieve the excess material. The rear panel could easily be sheared as well since you have to rivet it in anyway. Like you said, if your not going to use the rear cooler, cutting away the excess would be a great idea. I am running the rear cooler on mine. Besides all my buddies are never close enough to worry about the extra material. Have you called Maximum Performance, they might even have it sheared for you, they were extremely helpful when I purchased the kit from them, even recommended some 136" suspension set-ups. I have some more pics if necessary.

skidooboy,
Definitely a Maxx Perf product on my Blue Viper, I remember paying for it. Maybe they have changed their design but it looks just like the one in their website. Are you thinking of the one from Mountain Performance?

with the hose coovers on and cleaned up it looks alot better. the only thing noticable that is different is the back plate in mine is a stock viper plate modified to fit the tracks usa extension to take the rear heat exchanger. The hartman kits go inside the tunnel but the tracks usa fit on the outside of the tunnell. i like the outside better in looks. B2so awesome looking sled, hows the riding been this year?
