Im planning on buying a skid plate for my viper and wanted to get some opinions on what one to buy. Some of the factors durability, protection, ground clearance, what is the best plate?

holeshot in my opinion, i personally hate the look of the Yamaha GYT-R plates because the dip for the radius rods looks ridiculous. The holeshots are thicker too, and are ribbed for more strength, and look better in my opinion.

Yamaha now has the "UltraPlate II". It's basically the origional UltraPlate with the radius rod protectors cut off. You can modify the origional UltraPlate to look exactly like the new one, that's what I done.
The first pic is a pic of the actual UltraPlate II, the second pic is a pic of my modified origional UltraPlate.
But yeah, like yamaholic said, the Holeshot plate is a better plate.

Skid Plate
My Viper S has a factory one that fits great and looks very good too. Sometimes factory stuff is more money but the fit and finish is also better. My opinion.

I had an after market plate (not sure of the brand) but had to remove it and put on a GYT-R.... The after market didn't dip where the radius rods were and would allow snow & ice to build up to the point where a small jump would allow the suspension to drop and rip the plate off... (several times)... Put the GYT_R plate on and not a problem since... Those dips at the rods allow water and snow to drain away...
The new ultra plates don't offer any protection to your radius rods...
just 2 cents

they are the same
Tod said:i have these and the shorter ones too. 55 shipped. I will have to check the number. I think they are for the SRX. Not sure if its the same.
I prefer the one that Tod has posted. It is made for the SRX and is the same as the older proaction Holeshot plates. They fit a viper just fine. IMO, it looks much better than the Viper plates. I guess I prefer the 'square look' over the round.
Attached is my viper with a SRX Holeshot/Yamaha plate.
