I have bender triple pipes. I am pretty sure that the hood sits right on the pipes. So as you can guess it is melting the hood even with high temp heat tape. So my question is...does someone make a shield or something that I can use to stop this. If so....who is it and how can I get one? Thanks for the help.

I think you can put some washers under the hood hinge to jack it up a bit. I also made a slight ding in mine to get some clearance. You'll want to keep an eye on where the pipes rub together because they wear through.

I've always used that heat resistant fabric.....looks like woven tin foil....and its sticky on one side......you can get it through just about any aftermarket catalog.....I got mine out of Dennis Kirk.......not sure if that's what you were looking for.....but its functional and serves its purpose.

I had the stock exhaust can sitting against the hood of my viper yesterday, made a nice bubble in the hood.....Looking for a shield or something to put there to keep heat off the hood.

bender is pretty good at fitment...i have a hard time believing they'd have them lay that way...are you sure they arent indexing or installed a little off....I've installed a lot of pipes on triples and sometimes you have to jerk them around as you install them to make sure they lay right..if not...theres another problem...heat is only one issue...any rubbing will eventually wear the weaker part!

I wouldn't call the bender triples for the viper good fitment. Pretty much gotta shoehorn those babies in there.

i have benders i bought longer bolts for the hood hinge and put four or five washers to lift the front of the hood about half an inch, also heat tape all over the hood above the pipes, works great no rubbing or melting.

geez...sorry to hear that guys...if I spent that kind of coin from them with that kind of fit...I'd be all over them for some consideration for sure...
