I know I'm about to open a whole can of worms here but the season is almost over so I'll have all summer to figure it out...I know the guy who had the sled before me said he changed the Helix, so basically what I would like to know is, how do I find out exactly what I have on there...Not only helix but everything, weights, rivets, springs ect...And what set up might work best for my 98 SRX. I know that the brave soul who dares to answer this question might get sore hands from typing but I'll owe you a beer!!! Or if there is a Tech page you could refer me to I'd appreciate that also.
Thanks in advance
Thanks in advance
open both clutches and take out both springs, helix, the weights you dont have to remove, just read of the letters/numbers on the side of weight 8dn-10 for example.. the springs are marked with a color code and then we will know what you have, the helix olso have some number or letters.. its not difficult so open it and people will help you sort it out!!!

yup exactly as powerpack said, get in there and tear them down and let us know what you have. Numbers on weights and helix, color codes on springs. Make sure to pay attention to the numbers that the secondary spring is in when you pull the secondary apart. There are numbers on the helix and on the sheave.

i'm kinda in the same boat... i baught a 98 srx700 that has had some work done to it...the problem is i'm not exactly shure whats done to it or how well its actually working...the plugs have never fouled but the plugs are pretty black and it seems to take a bit to strech its legs... i'e worked on alot of sleds doing mods and upgrades but am new to the srx and dont wanna mess it up... it has a roller rooster secondary on it, DG can, VForce reeds, cold air intake(air box not gutted), quickrods, 1" new track with predrilled stud holes(unstudded at the moment), it seems to have good smooth power but take a while to wind out... i weight 225 and it'll just pass my buddys vmax4 and its un studded too stock but it takes forever....if i'm doing alotta trail it feels like its loading up and u gotta give it a quick burp to clean it out...i'm not sure how to adjust these carbs i've never had a tripple or worked on these style of flatslides....i'm gonna tear appart and try to get some info.....

any help or guidence would be great
if you want more power in the holeshot, gear it down a bit.. its probobly stock gearing on there now, 23-37.. ca 1.61 ratio.. try 21-39 its ca 1.86 in ratio. youll get more power in the start and lose a bit on top. and maybe drop the can for some power..

well i found something interesting... i was taking the the rollers out because they felt rough turning like they had alotta crap in them so i'll soak them in some crown and i found the roller assembly(the blue piece) had cracks all by the rollers..it looks like it wouldnt take much to top break the center out....i liked this secondary when i rode it it felt very smooth through the rpm's compared to other sleds i rode...can u get just that piece??? do they even make that one anymore?? or even if someone has a used one??? i'm going over this sled this summer to make sure its all good for next season and finding nice little trinkets like this..this sled looks to be driven pretty hard so i'm gonna give the hole thing a once over....
