i was riding yesterday and after a 20 minutes ride i lost power on mag cylinder, seems like it has lost compression and wouldent fire on this cylinder.. haven opend it yet, had half a mind to trade it in for a rev 800 ho.. but i read that they have mutch problems with crank sealings on pto side.. what do you think?

yes will try to open it tomorrow, plug colour was fine before it happend, engine has only 4000 km on it.. thinking it migth be the piston rings or can it be some dirt in carburator? i love my srx, have had it for four years now, never failed me before..

no that wouldn't make you loose comp.
yes i know, ment that maybe dirt in carb could cause cyl to seize.. thanks for reply.

yes dirt in the carb could cause it to seize, no doubt. Thing is if you have been riding it all this year and haven't seized it, highly unlikely that you would just get some type of obstruction in there that would cause it to go, especially if it ran fine all year. Bad gas, maybe? Too cold for the jetting you are running, maybe? Do a compression test and then if that isn't good get in there and check the damage.
open it today and found that a piece of the piston was missing, on top of piston at the side facing the pipes.. need to replace the cylinder, piston, maybe the top.. any idees what could have caused this?

The scratches...can yo fell them with your fingernail are they deep???
or is it just mealted on alum.????that your feeling
its mainly one, its little hard to tell how big it is, but you can put your finger nail in it and make it follow the scratch...
well have still not been able to get a camera.. but open the carb to this cyl, and the idle jet was plugged.. was olso missin one bolt to the manifoil one same cyl.. can either of this cause it to get a detonation on piston??
My guess is that you drove just too fast hehe just kidding. My srx is slowly coming along as I'm learning more and more about the tempaflow..

the exhaust leak (bolt missing) and the dirty carb could both cause a meltdown. Carbs need to be cleaned before every season, no questions asked. Its a BIG gamble to not do it, and its so easy to do.
