We just bought a used viper motor and when we took the head off, the cylinders were machined for o-ring headgaskets, but it used a viper head. The casting number on the side of the cylinder is 8ek00 just like on all our vipers. We don't have an srx around to see what the casting number is, but we're wondering what's going on with this motor. What is the casting number on the srx cylinders?

Thanks

Everything srx is 8DN casting numbers. You definately have viper cylinders there. May have been machined for o-rings to run srx heads, and they just threw a viper head on it before selling it or something

That's good to know! I guess PSI did this motor for David Brown a few years back so it's hard to tell exactly what has taken place with it. The head has been machined also. I don't know if any of you remember or not, but David Brown was in the espn winter x-games hillcross one year and was way ahead of the pack until the very end when he took a spill. It was pretty cool to se a Yammy at the hillcross.

they may have oringed it because they couldn't get the head tight enough with a gasket, does the head show signs of the ring grooves? If so get some srx orings and throw it back together, cc it and see what the comp ratio is, go get some good gas.
