Going to attempt to take the darting out of the 02 Viper. Set the bars straight ahead for a preliminary check. From the rear carbide bolt on the left ski to the rear carbide bolt on the right ski, if have a measurement of say "X" . Repeating this on the front carbide bolts, I have X + 1/2". Without using the straight edge and checking each side ( for an initial check ), can I assume that I have a total toeout of 1/2". I've always used 1/16" to 1/8" each side, so is 1/4" each side too much?? In the tech. section, doing alignment with the bar, Yahama list a total toe out of 3mm, which is aprox. 1/8".
Second, to determine the thickness of the shim that I need, can I lift the front of the skis off the floor ( one at a time ) and slip a shim on the top of the rubber at the rear of the spindle to get a preview of how the carbide will be sitting on the floor?? That way I can experiment with different thickness to get the setup I need.
