98 srx 700 crankcase vs. 02 srx and viper case

Wondering what the difference is between the 98 srx 700 crankcase and the newer srx and the vipers.
My brother needs a new case for his 03 viper. Will a 98 srx case work?

98 srx PN: 8DF-15100-00-00 CRANKCASE ASSEMBLY
02 srx PN: 8DF-15100-10-00 CRANKCASE ASSY
viper PN: 8DF-15100-10-00 CRANKCASE ASSY (same as newer srx)

the differance is where the pick up coil mounts on the case, the 2000 and up srx and vipers have a smaller flywheel and thus the pick up coil had to be moved, the 98-99 srx use the larger flywheel and the point is differnt for mounting, they dont interchange. Also the 98-99 case is set up for a 2 peice end pto crank bearing and the 2000-03 srx/viper is a wide 1 piece unit. if you use the 98-99 srx crank in the 98-99 srx crankcase it can be made to work, you have to build up aluminum weld and remachine the new boss for the pick up to mount correctly with small flywheel used with the 300 watt ign. system.
