Best Pipes?

Hauck's (made by CPR) are probably the fastest. The SLP's are probably the best fitting, better fit and finish and quieter. AAEN's are quiet too, but probably are a bit less in performance than the above two. I ran the CPR's one season. They were real strong for drag racing, but seemed a bit flat in the bottom end. Any of the pipes you decide on you should do a head mod at least or do like I did and get an aftermarket head with removeable domes to straighten the compression out. Also run EGT's to prevent a burndown like I had.(my fault) The Viper needs proper setup and know how to be a safe runner with pipes. Many people have been successful doing so. If you need another Yamaha Viper head for modding I have one I'll sell you rather cheap. Goodluck.

If you do a search on here and on snowest you will find that the SLP pipes are the best pipes for the viper. You may also come across dyno charts proving this compared to various other viper pipes, I used to have a copy of it but lost it when snowest made some changes to picture folders.

SLP has the best package bar none. Best sound (quietest), fit, finish, instructions, jetting/clutching chart, power, and most importantly they are the most reliable. No head mod needed (although it probably cant hurt), but you will need a rear cooler. I am on year 3 with mine without touching the jets since the initial set up and the sled runs great from 0-5000' and minus 20 to 40 above. Sure I am probably leaving some performance on the table but it is well worth it to me to have 800cc power with a sled that all i have to do is put gas and oil in it and ride.

There are guys on here that have had luck with other brands of pipes but the general concensus it that SLP has the best package on the market.

Best would be a set of SRX pipes!

SRX pipes and CDI box, are the best for overall performance and reliability. If you watch e-bay you can get the whole set-up for half the price of a set of aftermarkets. Did mine for $450 total.
Pipes-$150
CDI-$75
Bender can-$125
flanges-$100
You need to modify the right side belly pan, and bender can. It's not that much work, you just can't be afraid to do some cutting with a razor knife.
I will would say you can't get better power/mileage from any other set-up.
