My '98 has slowly been using more oil, so i come here and do a search on oil consumption. Everyone keeps talking about a mearsurement on the cable adjuster. I have always aligned the marks from the cam to the pump housing as a guide. (just like the manual says)
Call me stupid but have I been doing this wrong for the last 8 years.???????
And if all my adjustments are ok, can I assume the pump is starting to fail.??
Do I buy a kit or replace the whole unit????

Wright with a twin you align the two marks..on triples you have to measure
the cable..
You can back off the pump a 1/8" to the lean side and see if that helps
but keep an eye on your oil usage..usally they start going rich when they
go bad...
How many miles on the sled????

thanks for pointing out the difference.
As for mileage, 3500-4000.
I do have the mark a couple mm on the lean side. The sled still runs excellent and I'm not really too concerned about a little too much oil. I'll just keep an eye on it and see if it keeps getting worse.
Again, do I get a repair kit or replace the whole pump???
