the housing that holds the bearing in place on the secondary shaft(not the chain case side) has split and need replacing . what is the easiest way to do this? do i have to remove the chaincase to remove secondary shaft? what way does the shaft pull out from ? clutch side or chaincase side? i am also going to replace the bearing while i am at it. tis is on a 99 srx 700.
You will have to pull it out from the chaincase side. Somebody correct me if I am wrong please.

Well...there is no EASY way so to speak. you must remove chaincase, caliper, rotor, parking brake etc. and it will come out the clutch side after you feed it through all the way to the chaincase side (after removed). It's not all that bad. The parking brake is the worst part so take note. Loosen the track also. Done it in the Best Western parking lot in Istheming, MI. Good luck and Loc-tite everthing!

that pretty well sums it up remove pipes and can airbox and carbs than chaincase than it will come out.there is a step behind that bearing makeing it impossable to come out the clutch side untill you slide the shaft back behind the hole.thats why i agread chaincase side.

just loosen the 1 10mm bolt on the airbox and push it up. you might have to undo the oil and throttle cable from the carbs but you dont have to remove carbs or airbox. once again Loc-tite everything, set screws included.

The bearings come without set screws, so keep the old ones or be sure that you have new ones . . .
